Summer Shovin'! LRD vs GRG Double Header - Home - 20/08/11
In a slight change to the planned event we are now pleased to bring you an awesome Double Header extravaganza!
Remember that infamous bout against Glasgow's Irn Bruisers that resulted in not one but two overtime jams last season?? Well this was a rematch, both teams have changed, but the Derby tension remained high, with another nail-biting bout, complete with time-outs, and power jams a plenty. This time Irn Bruisers came out on top. What we know for sure is LRD v GRG is "never dull!"
And if that wasn't enough our whipper-snapper up and comers - the LRD Whip-its (including guest skater Dynamite Stix from MMR took on a team of guest skaters from Hot Wheel Roller Derby, Wakey Wheeled Cats, and Middlesbrough Milk Rollers. Another close game seeing lead switching back and forth between the two teams of rolling dames. The United Rollers eventually took the winning place breaking the Whipits winning streak.

Leeds Roller Dolls at the Windermere Row - 04/06/11

On 4th June 2011, six of the Leeds Roller Dolls (Caesar Maniac, Chernobelle, Luna Landing, Robin Hoodlum, R.I.Punzel and Terror Track-Doll) headed to the Lake District to take on the Windermere Row for St Gemma's Hospice - this year in it's 30th anniversary.
They rowed 10 miles across Lake Windermere in a wee wooden boat. It was a punishing challenge but being as competitive off skates as on, they gave it their all, in windy conditions, to finish 3rd place in the ladies category with time of 2hrs 39 minutes.
They have so far raised a staggering £890 for St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds, which provides specialist medical and nursing care for people with life threatening illnesses, predominantly cancer, along with support for their families.
It's not too late to sponsor them! And you can do it online at http://www.justgiving.com/dollsdowindermere
Well done ladies!
